About

About Jersey Rootz Radio

One island. One signal. Roots running deep. Jersey Rootz Radio is a home-grown station for the largest of the Channel Islands: roots reggae, sound system spirit, local stories, weather rolling in off the bay, and a broadcast ship anchored just far enough offshore to cause trouble.

Not Everywhere

We're not trying to be everywhere. We're trying to be here — properly here. Deep roots, conscious sound, Jersey weather, local events, community voices, and the island stories that never make the national news but still matter.

Not A Playlist

The station has presenters, shows, lore, arguments over the decks, and a boat that should probably have been inspected by someone official by now.

Non-Profit Signal

Jersey Rootz Radio is a non-profit project. Any surplus goes straight back into supporting local island initiatives and charities like Music in Action, because a signal this strong has to give something back to the soil it comes from.

Pirate Radio

Broadcasting from somewhere it shouldn't be.

Every station needs an origin story. Ours is a boat. The MV DreadzNaught sits out past the horizon, running the signal back to the island the old way — a proper pirate radio ship, in the tradition of the offshore stations that went on air before anyone thought to ask permission.

That's why the crew talk about the swell and the wind like it actually matters to them — because out there, it does. Rough sea, calm sea, fog rolling in: it's all part of the shift.

Who's On Air

Meet the Crew

The station doesn't stop, and neither does the crew.

Runs the Ship & the Station Papa Feel Keeps the DreadzNaught afloat, the transmitter warm, and the crew just about organised.
Mornings Tootz Morning energy, island gossip, and the occasional side-eye at the sea state.
Overnight Ital Marcus Deep cuts for the ones still up.
Rootz and Rise Serena Sunrise Slow breath, warm light, and a gentler way into the day.
Afternoons & Drive Time Rico Rootz The island's own professor of reggae. Ask about a track and you'll get the label, the year, and why it mattered.
Coming Soon · Afrobeats Izzy V Bringing an Afrobeats show to the station soon.
Coming Soon · Soca & Salsa Yuri Fuego Soca and Salsa, also on the way.
The Ghost Ship

We use AI performance and production tools to keep the crew on shift, react to local events, and make a tiny island station feel alive around the clock.

The records, the roots, the local judgement, the taste, the jokes, and the attitude are real and deliberate. Combined, they bring the DreadzNaught to life.

Built Around the Island

Not Just Broadcasting to It

This station only works if the island feeds it. Birthdays, big-ups, beach days, fundraiser nights, pub gigs, market stalls, local businesses, and the things people should know about before the weekend disappears. None of that comes from a studio in isolation — it comes from Jersey, sent in by the people living it.

Get Involved

Got a shoutout, a local event, a story from the island, or a business that fits the frequency? Send it in. Jersey Rootz is built to hear from the island, not just talk at it.
